About the Artist
Born 2004 in the Bay Area, Elaine discovered her affinity for art at a young age. Under the instruction of Cheng Yangling, she has explored a variety of artistic approaches and mediums, including both realism and figurative abstraction. She holds a particular appreciation for Russian art and Chinese painting but has drawn inspiration from artists ranging from Egon Schiele to Georges Braque. As her practice has developed, art has become to her:
An act of faith—that beauty can arise from mud and oil.
A practice of balance—light and shadow, tradition and innovation, function and aesthetic.
An immortalization—of moments and people.
And above all, an exploration of what it means to be human.
Elaine is currently pursuing a double major in Visual Art and Financial Economics at Columbia University.
